When Adi Da Samraj was born in New York in 1939, he was completely aware of his condition. He named it the Bright because it was full of Love-Bliss. At the age of two years, in a gesture of Love toward those around Him, he relinquished the pleasure of the Bright and identified with the self-contracted state of ordinary beings. This started an investigation into the nature of reality. All manner of human experience, high and low, was thoroughly investigated by Adi Da in order to awaken to the bright. He discovered how to draw all beings to the Perfect Condition of Love-Bliss. The process of Reality was fulfilled by Adi Da on September 10, 1970. In his spiritual memoir, The Knee of Listening, Adi Da recounts a unique and heroic experience.

Following his Divine Re-Awakening, Adi Da Samraj embarked on an unprecendented teaching demonstration in which he thoroughly considered every aspect of ordinary and Spiritual life with his devotees. From this free, direct and thorough consideration, and from his Perfect Realization of the Bright, came Adi Da’s Wisdom-Teaching. A vast store of Wisdom has been communicated by Adi Da Samraj since he began teaching.

Each of us is presuming that we are separate from Perfect Love-Bliss because we are already in it. The false presumption is based on our identification with a mortal body-mind, rather than on the True and Non-Separate Divine Condition. All the suffering that attends this error is necessary for real and lasting Happiness.
